2017 Missionaries

April 20, 2017

I want to go to Costa Rica because I think it will be a very good experience. I have never helped beyond my community and this is a great opportunity to do so. I am excited to spend time with my fellow missionary friends and learn about other cultures. Through this trip, I hope to become closer to God and become more involved in the Catholic community. ~Madison

Hello my name is Daniel Fernandez and I attend St. Francis Highschool. I will be going to Costa Rica this summer along with others. This is my first year going to Costa Rica but not my first mission trip. Last summer I went to Yakima Washington to go on an Indian reservation to help others. We cleaned everything you could think of from toilets to windows. My experience there making new friends and helping people was amazing. It was a life-changing experience and made a huge impact on my life. I look forward to being in a different environment, helping those in need, learning more about Costa Rica, and can’t wait to make a difference.

I decided to participate in the Costa Rica trip because I love doing service and new experiences. When the opportunity came up, there was no way I could turn it down. I think that going on this trip will teach me about a new culture as well as broaden my horizons, as well as helping those who are less fortunate than mine. ~Anna

I am choosing to participate in this mission trip to Costa Rica because it will allow for me to share my faith and experiences with my fellow youth ministry team as well as the other people I meet on the trip. In addition to this, I will be given the chance to serve others and live out the Catholic motto of working for all people. In conclusion, this trip will give me and the youth ministry team the chance to grow as individuals through practicing our faith. ~Joseph

When I first heard about the service trips that the Holy Family youth ministry put together, I was fascinated. I have always loved serving others and the feeling of accomplishments and difference that comes of it. I knew I would join. I have always traveled. I had scarcely been birthed into this world when I first left my home continent to Italy then Thailand. My longest such excursion comes in December 2014 when I traveled to Peru for a month, flying back on New Year’s Day. During this trip I spent a week in an orphanage and knew for sure I would join youth ministry.  ~Xander

Hi, my name is Franny Cross and I am a Junior at South Pasadena HS. This is my first year going on the Holy Family Mission trip and I am very excited to be a part of the trip to Costa Rica. I can’t wait to learn more about the world around me and how there’s more to life than simple suburban life. Through this enticing opportunity, I know I will be able to do so and grow more as a person. This is because it will hopefully give me the chance to not only learn more about the world but more about myself as well. I am so fortunate and honored to become a part of this trip and cannot wait for the adventures that await me.
